It was a busy day for NOM in Indianapolis, along with the Indiana Family Institute and Micah Clark of AFA-Indiana. The morning began with meetings with high officials. State Attorney General Greg Zoeller met for almost an hour with NOM’s Chairman Maggie Gallagher, before Maggie had to zip over a few blocks to the studios of WIBC for a half an hour interview with Greg Garrison. Greg Garrison’s show reaches three-quarters of the state, “All the way to Terra Haute,” Greg said, and comes on just before Rush Limbaugh. Greg Garrison took over the mic when Mike Pence became a Congressman. Greg’s previous claim to fame was that he prosecuted Mike Tyson!
Then it was back to the State House steps where not even the noisiest protests could drown out the voice and values of Indiana’s majority. Afterwards more meetings with high officials.
As Maggie Gallagher told the rally, “There’s only one reason the people of Indiana do not have the right to vote for marriage–the Speaker of the House won’t let them.” This November’s election is pivotal for marriage in Indiana.
Afterwards several local leaders came up to thank NOM for our work and our courage in standing for marriage–and to let us know they are raising money to help elect pro-marriage representatives who will respect the people’s right to vote for marriage.
