Bishop Jackson in Annapolis: “The major civil right . . . is the right to vote”

At the Annapolis rally today, Bishop Harry Jackson emphasized a common theme from the day. He pointed out: “The major civil right, for those of us who went through the civil rights movement, is the right to vote….”

Marriage is a value that comes down to us in cultural heritage as well as faith, and there is no opposition between the two: “Dr. Martin Luther King used to preach with the Bible in one hand… and the constitution in the other; he used to appeal to the natural law.”
